Health benefits of honey

Honey is quite amazing in its taste and in its countless health benefits; it is an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and contains antioxidants. Also known as golden honey it is abundant in nutrients and can help calming cough.

The ancient Egyptians already used honey to treat wounds, and to this day we use honey for all of its health benefits. An old well known bed ritual is warm milk with honey, which can relieve nocturnal cough and allow proper sleep. Honey is used as a probiotic because of its large amount of friendly bacteria. But as mentioned above, Egyptians already knew that the health benefits of honey extend to external application too. It’s effective in healing wounds and treating burns. There are many other home remedies with honey as its main ingredient. You can find recipes online for hair masks and moisturizers.

Honey is not suitable for  infants. Spores of Clostridium botulinum have been found in a small percentage of honey in North America. This is not dangerous to adults and older children, but infants can have a serious reaction of illness in the first year.

Why we use honey

We had a choice while developing this product: we could choose a cheaper ingredient or we could stick to our philosophy to deliver a healthier alternative to nighttime relief. For instance many products contain high fructose corn syrup, a sweetener made from corn starch. High fructose corn syrup is linked to obesity and related health issues, but it is a cheap ingredient.  Sleep is the natural way the body repairs and rebuilds, why use chemicals or unhealthy ingredients to fall asleep.  We wanted to keep Sambrosa as natural as possible and use real honey which is rich in its health benefits.
